I know this must be really sad and all, considering the amount of experiments I did (and the number of times I did them), but I'm going to ditch the sponge part.
Not to worry, I'm still continuing with the experiment, but this time it's in plastic cups and cotton wool. The main reason is, the sponges need a lot of water, and 1.6l won't be enough.
To give you an example, I pushed the sponge in water, wrung it a bit so it becomes pleasantly moist, and left it out, at night.
The next day, the entire sponge was completely dry.
And by the fourth day, nearly all of my water was gone, and I seriously wanted to cry.
So yup, I'm ditching the sponge bit, and going ahead with my back-up experiment. It has been coming along nicely, although M1 and M6 (ignore the technicalities) have been blown over by the wind and I couldn't find their seeds again, and also there was heavy rain yesterday and I can't help but feel that my experiment was somewhat altered by it when all of a sudden nearly all of my seeds sprouted leaves - after being dormant for a few days. Although, all cups were evenly soaked, which meant that the inconstant weather applies to both groups, so it shouldn't really be much of a problem.
That's all for now, I'm probably going to post a Week 1 Analysis tomorrow, along with my results thus far, so...that's all.
